I am home today. I had to stay home this morning to meet the appliance guy (the stove fell apart, but it is all fixed!) and then the painters appeared and bad contractor S, and then I decided to just stay -- well, also I have a particularly snotty cold that I probably shouldn't be spreading around.

I've been reading On Beauty which I'm liking a lot.

Also, it so nice to be home (now that all the people have gone). What a lovely house! I have to run out and get shelfpaper, actually, so that I can put all the kitchen stuff away.

Yes, yes, yes.

But it's nice just being here.
