Well, I am home this morning. I really did get some stuff done yesterday -- boxes hauled to attic, etc. So I'm going to continue with that. V. exciting.

It's cold and rainy.

Hey, do you want my mother's Christmas ball recipe? The good things about these cookies is that they look festive, are rather tasty, and are really easy to make with kids. (Or without kids, for that matter.)

Blend:

1 cup sugar
1 cup shortening (butter works)
1/2 cup sour cream
2 eggs
1 tsp almond flavoring

Mix together and add to ingredients above:

4 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp baking soda

Roll into balls. Shake balls in plastic bags filled with red, green and multicolored sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
