freezing fog

2007-01-30 - 12:13 p.m.

And (this should alert you that this is not the first entry for today) -- I was just reading tatoobelly. She lives in eastern Washington, and she was talking about the freezing fog.

I saw it, too! What a strange thing. I was driving along near Pendleton, OR, (which is a sort of middle-of-nowhere place. There seems to be a fair amount of that in eastern Oregon, but it is pretty) when I noticed that some of the trees looked a little fluffy. Hmmm, I thought. Then, I noticed that some of the grass looked kind of white, too.

That's what happens, apparently. Fog comes, and it's below freezing, and things frost over. Very pretty, in a ghostly sort of way.

I really do love leafless wintry landscapes. The colors of bare trees are so beautiful, in a subtle sort of way.

Too bad I took no pictures ....

OKay. Bye again.

I was a little worried, though, that the road might be icy. But it wasn't.

And look, here are some pictures.
